I’m here to talk about OLD HEAD GAMES again

Here we have DINOSAUR for the NEC PC-8801, released in 1990 (some sources say 1989), DINOSAUR was developed by Falcom, it’s one of their first turn based games ever, and is notable for not featuring ANY actual dinosaurs

Final version of my very first sprite!!

Today’s job was updating the squirrel guy, making him a back sprite and animating both. I think I did a good job, keeping my pixel art practice on the simple side is keeping me on it

Tried out some pixel art yesterday and I ended pretty happy with this, I think I wanna continue :))

Left is the official pikachu sprite from Pokemon Yellow for GBC (used as reference), right is a squirrel pokemon (supposed to be Greedant specifically but imo it could work for other squirrel ones)

Set as graphic for spoilers.

Clair Obscur…. What a game, I’ve finished the main story and I really did love it. Minor gripes are the difficulty balance falls apart as you go on, you get WAY too strong, and no manual saving. Otherwise I’d say this might be a top 15 or even top 10 game oat for me

Back at it with more gaming progress 😈

(Keeping screens spoiler free) Yesterday Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 was released! Dev’d by French studio Sandfall interactive, this is an action command turn-based game with inspiration from classic JRPGs and art inspired by the French Belle Époque period!

Clair Obscur is a game worth being excited for

What can I do to get Ubisoft to make games like this again?

I understand everyone’s issues with Ubisoft, I’m also right there with y’all. I just can’t stop thinking about when they make games like this and how talented they are. Hoping against all odds we could have this again

Princess Crown, an experience I’ve wanted for so long…

It’s met every expectation that I have, I’ve throughly enjoyed myself and wanna keep going. Genuinely a beautiful game, a beautiful piece of art. (Ignore the boner guys LMAO)

Once I’m done with yard work, I’d be glad to be cozy 😔😔

I finished up Little Nightmares and it’s DLC last night, I loved every second of the main game. The DLC was fun as well but didn’t grip me quite as well as the main game did.

We love giving our feet away for charities!

I am excited to say I got Power DoLLs for the FMTowns, a JP PC system, working, after ages of scouring old JP forums using wayback machine, complete with cute girls!!! I could’ve saved myself the trouble with the English MSDOS version but uhhh shut up!!!!
April 18, 2025 at 4:15 PM
Omg are you Senzawa???

So today I’m showing off more Princess Crown, I’m a big fan of the… character design… and I’ve adjusted to the stuff combat! Beating bosses very much out of order.

However I’m also enjoying Little Nightmares! I’ve beaten the main game and am working on the DLC.

Character design is my passion

I love him give me 10

With the full translation of Princess Crown being up finally, you bet your ass I was on it today. Featuring my new Sony Trinitron CRT
April 13, 2025 at 4:25 AM
WOOO NOSTALGIA

Today we are playing (besides YokaiRO 😉) Princess Crown for the Sega Saturn! A 2D fighter action RPG exclusive to JP, a fan translation was finally released after 28 years! This game is best known for putting its director Kamitani on a blacklist due to its commercial failure
April 12, 2025 at 3:57 PM
Is it still voluntary if I get really excited??

I have beaten Kuon finally! Solid spooker game for most of it but honestly this 3rd and final campaign was a let down, it was incredibly short which is fine, but really didn’t satisfy me as a conclusion. Overall great game with an iffy ending
April 11, 2025 at 4:06 PM
Andddd finished with Kuon, a Fromsoft survival horror game, this one is super interesting as it has a similar story telling style that the later Souls games would have, where you need to do a good bit of reading to fully grasp. Overall the game is good, with the main gripe I have being the ending
April 11, 2025 at 2:08 AM
Spectacularly enticed 🫡

So yesterday I had gotten a CRT monitor in the mail and set it up and I couldn’t be happier about it! With a 17in screen and 18in deep (heh) this is a significant improvement to my old CRT, much better brightness, sharpness and controls I’m ready for peak retro gaming
April 10, 2025 at 4:03 PM
Shoot I was hoping one of us did 😭

As I’ve said I’ve been playing Kuon, we got a couple more screenshots for you. I’m pretty close to being done with the 2nd campaign, and it’s been a fascinating journey. Anyone who likes Fromsoftware’s storytelling style will probably have a good time with it

SO yesterday we got a copy of Wanders from Ys, or Ys 3 for the PC-8801, this is CiB as far as I know, and it’s incredible how much stuff is packed in here. If I ever get an actual PC-8801 I will probably get some spare 5” floppies to copy these disks over so I can preserve them as much as possible!

Obviously as we should know, that tech race was pretty pointless, 2D games can/are just as good as 3D games. However at this time i assume it was a night and day difference for most consumers. And unfortunately, NEC dropped out of the home console market after this failure.
February 19, 2025 at 12:40 AM
There’s probably a ton of reasons why the system failed, but I’ll specifically talk about its specs a little bit. This is a 32-bit era system, same time as the Saturn/PS1 and it has NO 3D processing afaik. This means out the gate you’re already losing in the tech race that was going on at this time
February 19, 2025 at 12:37 AM
So I got an NEC PC-FX here, this is my latest pickup for my growing retro collection and it’s an incredibly interesting one. Namely, this console FLOPPED, it sold terribly and there’s only around 60 games for the system, none of which seem to be too notable beyond being on this platform.
