But I thought “smart” people worked the system to avoid paying more taxes than necessary. So said the 45th president. Would a “smart” businessman like Trump “eat” an import tax that he could instead pass along to consumers? That would be “stupid.”

He’s deriding a business for not being stupid.

This part of the @nytimes.com story about yesterday’s Cabinet meeting concisely illustrates how we got here. When we remove virtually all limits on how the rich can leverage their wealth, we invite an oligarch to hijack our government. Elon owns them all.

This new one also irks me. Are they incapable of using “Trump” or “White House” as the subject of a headline? With a verb other than “defends.” Outrageous question headlines that dodge facts (“Does Trump Have the Power to Block Spending?”) don’t count either, obviously.
