These words are from the end of the speech that President Kennedy was to have given the night of November 22, 1963, and they seem to have been written about today's politics.

Is something wrong with me? My first thought when hearing about Dick Cheney's passing was his hunting accident back in 2006. Late night hosts had a field day commenting on the accident & Cheney took their jokes in stride unlike what a certain person (i.e. Trump) would do today.

So much truth in this. Years ago, I read the book "The Captain & The Kings" by Taylor Caldwell. In it everything is run by handful of wealthy men from all over the world but everything is done in the background so the ordinary person wouldn't know it.

On this day in 1797, this ship was launched and is the oldest ship in the USS Navy. Happy Birthday to the USS Constitution lovingly known as Old Ironsides.

Oct. 18, 1867 Alaska was purchased from Russia for $7.2 million (2 cents per acre). Known as Seward's Folly, that quickly changed with the Alaskan Gold Rush starting around 1879. My how the attitude changes when there's gold in 'em hills. Some in Russia have Buyers Remorse & want Alaska back.

From 4 bald eagle nests in Ohio in 1979 there are now at 964. The county I live in only has 8, but since Wolf Creek is one of their nesting sites, I get to see them once in a while. It is always such a special sight.
