People inside the asylum make think of the others in the asylum as reasonable people that they can work with, but from the outside of the asylum we're just hoping for some sanity from some of the asylees, not that they all work together.

The states that brag about "we're tough on crime know what to do with criminals around here" tend to have both the highest incarceration rates and the highest crime rates.

Clearly, they don't know how, or care to, reduce the amount of crime. They're just sadists.

Never cross the streams

People love their labels for others, but both communism and fascism are similar peas in a pod. The lineage of both runs through the 19th cent. German chauvinistic philosophy of "Forget that Age of Reason stuff with its invisible hand and all, we're really smart and can do it better."

Sherrill's rallies looked like New Jersey.
Ciattarelli's rallies looked like a Fanduel convention - guys, broke, angry, and behind on their alimony because they online-gambled it away.

I bought a 250-year-old house where several former owners had breathed their last. I was told there were ghosts. I was told I would hear banging in the night.
Then one night I heard the banging. So, I bled the radiators. Keeping them bled seems to have calmed all the ghosts for the last 25 years.

Every airport should have a store called "the guilty parent." A store full of items for business travelers who didn't make time to bring something for their kid(s) from the place they were. Snow globes from everywhere...kitchy piggy banks for every country...etc.
