I want to get off Mr. Bones’ Wild Ride.
This is an absolutely insane administrative process. Within the space of a week, states were told by judges/White House
*no SNAP benefits
*half benefits
*full benefits
*pause provision of benefits.
Result is chaos, uncertainty, and uneven access to benefits depending on where people live.

NEW: The Trump admin told states it must immediately "undo" the work to provide full food stamp benefits, or face penalties. The feds sent this in a late-night memo, only adding to the chaos and confusion around SNAP. www.nytimes.com/2025/11/09/b...

Little Bit has what appears to be her first little crush on a boy in her class.
Yesterday she spent the whole afternoon bawling because he wouldn’t let her give him her cat stamp (even though, she says, he loves stamps).
Today, she says she like him “a lot” and may even “love him.”

This is like those polls on whether you could fight a lion or a bear.
New poll: % of U.S. adult citizens who say the following have above average / below average IQs:

If the sandwich didn’t detonate, you must exonerate!
Breaking news: A jury acquitted a D.C. man who was charged with assault after throwing a sandwich at a federal agent.
The one-sided food fight became a slapstick symbol of resistance to President Trump's" summertime takeover of local law enforcement.

Jury finds D.C. ‘sandwich guy’ not guilty of assaulting officer
Sean C. Dunn admitted he flung the hoagie at a federal agent. His attorneys called it a “harmless gesture” of protest as Trump commandeered D.C. police.

The 20th anniversary rerelease of V for Vendetta in theaters is going to miss election day by 2 days (Nov 3). A pitty that the timing doesn’t line up better.
Kudos to the marketing guys though, a 1-year warning trailer is a brilliant move, if you know the plot of the movie.

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched c-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. I could smell the onions and mustard. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die.
Border Patrol agent Lairmore testifies that he was not injured by the sandwich, but he felt the impact through his ballistic vest.
The sandwich came apart and "kind of exploded" on his chest upon impact, he says.

This is such a hard call. Best sandwich… Maybe the cubano at Sisserou’s in Tulsa, OK?
For sentimental reasons, the Reuben at the mall deli in my wife’s hometown is also a contender.
And shoutout to the $3 sandwiches in the Green Lounge at UChicago Law that kept me alive thru 2L-3L.

It is national sandwich day. The best sandwich I ever had was a ham sandwich from a deli in Sydney, Australia in December 1999. Almost 26 years and no other has come close.

Holy hell, suddenly seeing daylight through the upper windows at the end. The inside of that building must be toast.
A medieval tower partially collapsed in the heart of Rome during renovations. One worker was injured and another was trapped in the Torre dei Conti near the Colosseum.

Whenever I bat around the idea of a late career move, it’s always to Chicago. Mostly because it’s affordable. But imagine what housing prices would do if the 1m most conservative folks all moved out at once…

Lots of playwrights and theater directors remake Shakespeare plays set in the modern day, but it doesn't really work for Macbeth, because now Lady Macbeth has access to club soda, which ruins her character arc.

I got $38 from a Facebook class action settlement, which I think is the most I’ve ever seen out of one of these. My immediate reaction was “nice” but now I’m wondering what the hell Facebook did to me that warranted that big a settlement.

As we do every year, the wife and I are watching horror movies this month. We finally got around to I Saw The TV Glow. All I really knew about it going in was how many people I follow who enjoyed it and a recommendation to not look up the plot.

It seems counterintuitive for a job that is basically about poetry, but giving your fans the impression that you have an elaborate sense of metaphor and symbolism must be one of the worst mistakes a pop star can make.
Just endless fodder for conspiracy theories and nonsense.

We had a rough night. Little Bit kept waking up, crying, insisting on being in our bed. We thought it was bad dreams, but she admitted this morning she just wanted snuggles with papa.
Mad that she lied.
Glad she owned up to it.
Frustrated by the lack of sleep.
Melting that she loves me like that.

Back in the 2000s there was a fun show called Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex. The show was about a cyberpunk future and followed cops as they tried to navigate complex layers of conspiracy and deception to unveil the true perpetrators of a crime.
