A strange blend of autism policy analysis and silly Doctor Who discourse. Probably not helping the stereotypes. Views my own. She/Her. https://linktr.ee/mindtheflap
oh, and the broader culture of disbelief

to give a hyper-specific example: I may need to work remotely when it's hot, but that's now media shorthand for "pulling a sickie", so I feel like I'm not believed without a clear explanation

and this "overdiagnosis" narrative just furthers that disbelief

The most debilitating ✨brain thing✨ in my life, which had taken hold by adolescence *at least*, has never been assessed or given a name.

Pressure to name it doesn't come from social media. It comes from people in my life being understandably confused by a response that is very clearly abnormal.

So this doesn't come off as too doomy - the fact that there's now a prominent anti-neurodiversity backlash is, to me, a sign of how far we've come. Schools & society in general have advanced so far over my lifetime. We have much to do, but years ago there was almost no recognition.

Incidentally, if you follow the "playing it yourself by choice doesn't count" house rule, you can play Whamageddon and Reverse Whamageddon at the same time, maximising fun and annoying all factions of Whamageddon Discourse equally. Would recommend

If you are eligible for the mobility component of PIP, you can spend *your own money* topping that up to have a great accessible car. Critics should ask: Why are you against this? What it is about disabled people that makes you believe it’s wrong to have nice things they paid for themselves?
