Exactly! Depending on what your mer is supposed to be based on, it could be dolphins, sharks or larger Atlantic fish. Your mer, your rules! I usually based mine upon sharks given I REALLY love sharks so I already had that information saved on my computer

Look at where the tails starts for your mer-anatomy and then look at sharks and larger fish anatomy...? It's what I do for when I practice fantasy anatomy for my ex' dnd stuff (so we had templates to work from) and I love reading up on marine biodiversity so like- I do this for fun
