Most religions shelter and care for children. It’s instinctive to human nature. A regime that does the opposite is the opposite of religion and everything it preaches. What do we call that again?

This is the inverse of what the TVPRA of 2008 was designed to do. Its main purpose is to take kids who arrive unaccompanied at the border and find a sponsor who can care for them. Reabsorbing kids already being cared for is not only unnecessarily cruel but it is a huge waste of federal taxpayer $$

And right now R’s are still in thrall to our President. So, she is likely in great peril politically. I think the best read of her behavior is that Trump/MAGA complex is so unsustainable-even the most loyal cannot stomach it and perhaps unwisely risk their political careers as a result

Thank goodness for Tim Kaine! A truly selfless man and someone who cares so deeply for others. Thank you Senator Kaine for not prolonging this pain any more. I know some will say you betrayed them. But I for one think you are showing leadership and heart

At a certain point continuing the fight becomes too painful. It’s okay to try and fail. At least they tried. How long is too long? Two months three months one year? Again there does come a point where a responsible person who cares does cave.

1. Ds tried on health care. Rs made it worse-stripping jobs, food stamps, grants. Showed that R’s just didn’t care enough on health care and the pain of the shutdown was extreme.
2. When Dems are viewed as fighting for the American people - even when it’s painful and messy- people respond well

Ultimately I really wish this country worked to do what is in the best interest of the people. And a shut down ain’t that. But the alternative on 9/29 also sucked. Dems couldn’t have just folded at that time. I know it seems like this was all for nothing but there are some things that came out

I thought Schumer was right the first time around to keep the govt open.
But people want a fight
So they got one.
