$12,500 would indeed probably leave you with next-to-nothing today.

€12,500,000 and you might have gotten your money's worth, though.

"could", well that's a nice cop-out

Yeah, and also it seems to be the assumption here that all people with mobility challenges will absolutely detest these robots, and that's just not the case in my experience. For them, it's a net benefit and indeed a great one.

In a rather short time about 2-3 years ago, these became incredibly common in Finland.

They never cause any real problems for pedestrians or cyclists, no-one really seems annoyed by them, and if a robot gets stuck in snow, people help it rather than throw fruit on it. And that behavior is good!

Pointed out by my friend @carloshasanax.bsky.social . There's something weird and unsettling about a fairly homogeneous culture spread out across Europe that then collapses into an orgy of genocide.

Anyway, just some reflections at the verge of weekend on the breath of professional experience one can meet in a day.

We used to say in political science that we were generalists, but sometimes, on this, foresight feels like next level. And it's great.

Final activity after all meetings were finished was to submit a foresight report in futures of Synthetic Drugs in Europe that we've been preparing for the European Union Drugs Agency.

The last piece of a brilliant project, almost exclusively thanks to the client and to excellent project partners.

Next online meeting was with the Romanian coordinators for an ongoing Horizon Europe project in which I'm WP leader.

We discussed, among other things, their recent workshop on Futures of Emotions, and how we can work that in to new course materials.

This was immediately followed by a meeting with Nokia about visions for future industrial ecosystems, focusing e.g. on the importance of network architecture, data operability, and Internet 4.0 standards. OPC UA For The Win.

At least this has allowed "her" to be very, very prolific, which my now 12yo has enjoyed tremendously over the past few years.
