Soccer, Sporting KC specifically, and everything else as well. I write over at the KC Soccer Journal. @downthebyline on the Bird app

Going a different route here, I'll still be mostly Sporting KC and soccer, but trying just 1 account this time. So it won't be almost all soccer here.

According to Futdasminass , Bia Zaneratto could be back with Palmeiras for the next season. Her contract with Kansas City Current runs until the end of the year. Palmeiras are said to be working hard to sign her, although meeting her current NWSL salary won't be easy.

Kansas City included.
The 2031 women’s World Cup bid book is now public.

“For the purposes of technical bid evaluation, our submission includes 20 venues that represent the tournament's diversity in geography, scale, and infrastructure readiness.”

Philadelphia is not among them, but…

This post by the USLPA needs to be seen and read.

The league withheld the materials from the USL Championship trophy celebration in retaliation for the players walking out in their USLPA shirts along with cutting out broadcast angles with that message.

Every time I think this league’s management can’t get any worse…
🏆⚽️✈️ After winning the NWSL championship Saturday night, Gotham FC have just departed San Jose on board the very same all-white Avelo jet (N805VL) that lost cabin pressure with shackled ICE abductees aboard two weeks ago and had to make an emergency landing in Las Vegas 😬

Had an indoor game tonight, missed most of the game, but what I did catch was exciting. BTW, may be a hot take but I have no problem with the 2nd yellow on Blackmon, little to no attempt to play the ball, plays the man. You put it in the ref's hands there.

Why'd a Tulsa player run in there with the Pittsburgh players?

Congrats to KC born and former #SportingKC goalkeeper Eric Dick as he pitches a playoff shutout and helps the Pittsburgh Riverhounds to the USL Championship 0-0 (5-3) in PKs.

If you include the World Cup break in the 2026 MLS schedule, 84% of the full capacity match-weeks line up with the new summer-to-spring calendar they'll start using in 2027.

It's essentially the same schedule already.

Fun fact, 2026 is Cincinnati's 8th MLS season, #SportingKC have played them 3 times, all on the road. Hopefully the next schedule for 27-28 actually alternates the home games...

Hearing that the MLS could be released as soon as today. Sounds like it will be almost a preview of the new calendar with long summer break and a very late MLS cup.

Coach takes a team from next-to-last place and creates the best offense of all time, but the knock is the defense is bad. So he creates the best defense of all time (and still a pretty great offense) and he gets NOTHING? Be serious right now.
