Today we honor military veterans of the United States Armed Forces. This is a painting of my paternal grandfather from just after WWII. He came to the US as a child when him family left Turkey in 1920. Thank you to all who served, including my cousins Dave and Jacob.

After reflecting on the lectures, I think political science departments need to return to their roots and rethink how to define governments that do not fit easily into our current categorizations.
