To put a finer point on this whole thing: "Two people with direct knowledge of the operation" — presumably uniformed military leaders — are accusing the U.S. Secretary of Defense of personally ordering specific war crimes. That's a historic accusation.

While it's important to note that there is no armed conflict so this is just straight up murder, the admin is arguing that there is an armed conflict in which case everyone in that chain of command ought to know that killing shipwrecked sailors and orders of no prisoners are war crimes

Wow, USCIS didn't even wait a hot minute. The U.S. Constitution guarantees individualized guilt and due process. Collective punishment (the harming or penalizing of people for actions they didn’t commit) violates these principles.
