But overall, I think refurbishing a system test suite is a great project that it would probably be effective at.

There will be all sorts of things you have opinions about coding conventions and you’ll need to convince it to do things your way.

You’ll also need to tell it to not be lazy and cut corners.

For example, I need to tell it over and over again to avoid mocks and use test fixtures damn it…

That’s kind of an ideal use case for Claude actually. But be sure to give it one concrete goal at a time… e.g get this specific test suite working.

Keep a close eye on it, especially at first. Tell it to do a bit of work, review the result closely and course correct. Let out the leash bit by bit.

In Rails applications I’ve had good luck with having Claude Code write system tests, which use browser automation.

But I agree that closing that loop goes a long way to being able to be effective at building features.

Plus capturing the result as automated tests helps prevents future regressions.

If there were a Quickview preview extension, or if it returned the data in a format that already has one (an image, PDF, etc), then this would be a functional app view when used in Finder’s column view with the preview pane.

Then we can have the future as Plan 9 intended.

But I… kinda do want to know what’s next…

This is a total guess but… it’s probably a composite of a few different data sources.

The circles are where they use data from a local sensor, and the broad areas in between are where they use satellite information or something.

It’s a superpower for a city.

It means people can choose where to live and work independently of each other: you can choose the best place for you to live and work at the place that will best employ you (even two people’s work!). Those are separate decisions that don’t constrain each other.

I feel called out.

Yes this would be the band members as well as lights, sound, stagehands, riggers, drivers, managers, promoters, etc.

They had two separate sound systems while touring, each requiring 4 drivers and a separate advance crew to assemble it.

It adds up: $800k/month is 160 people making $50k/year.

Might I suggest a skateboard?

Yup, I’ve gotten a couple of these emails too in the last couple years. Maybe two, in roughly 2023-2024, I think.

No, I can’t. I’ve already said too much.

At least no one has told you about wirecode yet, so we’re all still safe for now.

What is on your position on the production of paperclips?
