I think the difference is that Mamdani genuinely seems to love New York and its people whereas most of these other people are self serving leeches who only care about their own self preservation and power.
I’m glad every executive and politician spent several months trembling in fear and presenting tchotchkes and bending over at every possible opportunity, when they could have just been good at their jobs and behaved with integrity like New York’s new mayor just did.

And he cucked him in no time!

Mamdani is a generational political talent. The way he handled this mtg was brilliant. I hope he can deliver for NY because we need more like him.

We’ve been told by experts that to persuade people who fell for right-wing propaganda about Trump, we need to offer them a graceful off-ramp, but I think they’re gonna have to jump out of a speeding car before it crashes at this point. I can’t persuade someone who doesn’t see this for what it is

On Neil Young’s birthday, this lyric from “Revolution Blues,” a paranoid song inspired by Charles Manson no less, seems pretty apt right now:

“So you be good to me and I'll be good to you
And in this land of conditions I'm not above suspicion
I won't attack you, but I won't back you”

Another revelation from all of these emails is that many of the richest and most powerful people in the country absolutely cannot write. Helps explain their sweaty embrace of LLMs.

Not the first time, but I'm always struck how elite boomers email each other in a syntax, style, and grammar I'd be embarrassed to send my closest friend in an informal chat. The most generous assumption I'd expect from a note like this is that they'd think I was drunk.
Here's the full Summers email, btw.

Neil Young is 80. I always play his music around this time of year as we approach Thanksgiving. Maybe it’s because he has an album called Harvest, or maybe it’s because he appears in The Last Waltz, the Band’s farewell concert famously captured by Martin Scorsese on Thanksgiving Day, 1976.

Dick Cheney did more than anyone else to build up expansive and destructive executive branch powers in the wake of 9/11; he lived to see another president turn those same powers against his own daughter.

He should be a warning sign to the GOP today but too many of them are in the cult.

If I were running the DNC, there would be Democratic Party sponsored food relief banks across the country right now that specifically welcomed anyone regardless of party affiliation.

Along with the food, there could be voter registration and links to runforsomething.net

Perhaps the least shocking headline I’ve ever read. Centrists are just as zealous as anyone else and they often, because of the way they orient themselves in the middle, project an air of superiority as if they are the only adults in the room. It’s BS. One cannot be halfway opposed to Trump.
