Sorry I can’t wish you good luck tonight 😀. We need something to turn round an unexpectedly dismal autumn.

Anfield was frequently underwhelming in the 2000s. I get dewy-eyed remembering the VERY vibrant atmosphere when I first started attending regularly in the late 1970s. But that’s been the trajectory of English footie towards respectability - a ‘product’ with funereal atmospheres in stadia.

Small point of order Cas; the stadium is called Anfield, not Anfield Road, after the district of Liverpool in which it’s located. One end (probably where you were, as an away fan) is the Anfield Road end. It’s a mistake I’ve seen often in the European press.

I’ve been thinking about this as a collateral issue for a while. Who the hell is going to work and canvas for them when an election comes round? They are finished.

And some doubts about whether there are two birds. Nobody seems to have seen both at exactly the same time.

The apposite Yeats quotation for Orr and those fuckers is from Meditations in time of civil war:
‘We had fed the heart on fantasies,
The heart’s grown brutal from the fare’.
