Was on a little bush walk this morning and there was this cutt stump of an old kōwhai...
Counted apprx 45 rings but could be 50 ..SuperWife wanted to keep walking so...

Seems it was falling over and was cut clear of the walking track.

Nicely coloured timber and quite large for a kōwhai.

The liquidamber is being kept under control while leaving future options available for the new owner.

The Natal ficus is 👌

The evergreen alder has had large leaves removed and will have small buds shortly in time for a new owner.

My son's bottlebrush bonsai was doing so well for a couple of years then suddenly collapsed around mid September.

But now there are signs of life.

Usually wouldn't wait so long but learned from a YouTube channel that they can come back from such issues.

Good to see its true this time.

Couple more evergreen alder bonsai on the go.

Pretty much only clip n grow too so no wire used as they respond so quickly you can do Pretty well in 3 years from a cutting.
Just another option if wiring is an obstacle to physically use or just not preferred.

Hard to see it all but as the front trees get taller I will trim lower branches to enable a view to the range behind.
