I was expecting the blue jello to make the poinsettias closer to the blue papers, but they’re nearly a direct match for the mint green. Neat!! Now I know to make blue icing for the stars.

This year I also really do need the cookies to be GF, so after scouring the internet and finding only resellers jacking up the price, I decided to try an experiment. My grocery has King Arthur GF cake mixes, just not devil's food. Okay! We can work with that!

SO, the chocolate crinkle cookies are a Betty Crocker recipe that combines a cake mix and a pudding mix, plus a couple extras, to make an easy rolled cookie. EXCEPT! The recipe calls for the gluten-free devil's food cake mix which has been historically impossible to find. This year is no exception.

I arranged my tasks each day based on experience and vibes - I know what takes longest to dry, so that's first icing task on day 4, for example. I also know that the poinsettia dough is a dick if you chill it overnight, so I don't do that!

I did some rough time tracking as I went, so I used that this year to add time estimates to each task. Same approach - color coded table with same basic tasks per day - but this year I added them to my work tracker to get time totals and shuffle around the orders of things.

Alright, planning progresses! I make a big list of all the ingredients for the year's cookies, scaled up for how many batches of each I need (usually 3x). Then I copy that, group like ingredients, and math out how much of each I need. That turns into a grocery list!

Ok 2022 was the last snowflake year, and I did a combo of spring-y accent colors for a similarly neutral tin. I need to make a plan graphic, bc I'm deranged, but I wonder if I can play with flavors to match a lavender/mint/blue scheme?? Mint, ube, ??? Would folks hate to lose raspberry & cherry? 🤔

I think I'm down to two choices - a cute red plaid from a company I haven't bought from before, and a white snowflake design from a company I have. I did a plaid last year and I have done snowflakes before but it's been a few years. I think they're both neutral enough? HMMM. Thoughts?

Last treat, but this one was premeditated. It’s a big birthday this year so I got myself the Lancelot-Grail books, finally. Fancy!! I got hooked on King Arthur 20 years ago and I can’t be straining over a crispy PDF anymore. Maybe I’ll revisit some of my college reading after too. 😆

Two weeks ago, when I got home, there was a cute art market in town so we walked around (which was surprisingly exhausting oops). I got this cute and perfect wind chime and finally hung it up today. Look how exactly it matches my rug?!?! It’s all my colors!! Amazing!
