Independent State Senator in Omaha's District 8, shopgirl, mother, big Taurus energy. meganhunt.net.
Today we took up a bill to ban trans people from bathrooms and prevent them from playing sports.

Pope Francis welcomed trans people to the Vatican, and recognized their dignity. If he can do that, what’s stopping us? Discomfort is not a license to legislate cruelty. #NELeg

The time for carefully worded letters and statements has passed. We need action. We need anyone in Congress who says they believe in the constitution, human rights, and due process to get on a plane to El Salvador and bring Kilmar Abrego Garcia home. #KilmarAbregoGarcia

Today we’re debating LB3—a bill to kill Nebraska’s split electoral vote system just because one district voted the “wrong” way. This isn’t about fairness. It’s about power. I won’t help dismantle one of the last systems we have that actually represents everyone. #NELeg

Nebraska voters passed a minimum wage increase. LB258 guts it.

I’m calling on the advocacy community: Boycott the businesses of senators backing it. Picket their offices. Fill the rotunda. Your vote is not theirs to undo. #NELeg

I’m sick of my colleagues with their flashy watches and cars and PPP loans and subsidies saying they can’t give their hourly workers one day off when they’re sick. Pathetic. Wasting all our time. I get paid by taxpayers to say obvious basic stuff like this and it’s a shame lol

If you’ve got a Porsche in the driveway, a lake house for the summer, and a Rolex on your wrist, but you say you can’t afford to give your employees one hour of paid time off per 30 hours worked, (passed by the ppl in November!!) you’re not a job creator. You’re a grifter. #NELeg

If you only believe in democracy when it delivers the results you like, you don’t believe in democracy.

Nebraskans voted for paid sick leave. It passed. Our job is to honor that—not to quietly walk it back. #NELeg

Nearly 75% of Nebraska voters supported paid sick leave on the ballot. It’s supported by Democrats, Republicans, business owners, and workers alike, because people understand that what strengthens workers also strengthens families, public health, and the economy. #NELeg

The people of Nebraska voted for paid sick leave—and now some lawmakers want to water it down. I’ve built businesses. I’ve hired employees. I’ve managed payroll. So when I say paid sick leave is good for business, I mean it.

Respect the will of the voters, and respect workers. #NELeg
