that's what happens with mine, it gets power but the monitor is pitch black, sometimes just unplugging it and plugging it back in a different place does it. I'm sorry if that wasn't the case for you u_u
might want to contact wacom :c

where you plug it in the wall or the voltage regulator you might be using :)

might not be a solution for you, but there's this weirdness with mine that sometimes the monitor won't turn on. So I unplug it and plug it to another socket, and that does it .-.

start with big shapes on both, slowly break them into smaller locks of hair or folds of clothes. With some practice you will gradually continue adding details as you find your own way to resolve what you want to show :)
