I wish all data centers for genAI to be wrecked and their owners and users sued into the ground.
“This is exacerbated when Amazon then pulls this contaminated water, which is already over federal legal limits for nitrates, up to cool its data centers”

Areas in which centers are built are often high contamination drought areas. This process makes it much worse.

Honest opinion here: I was updating A Nose for Death to reflect winning the 2025 Best Indie Book Award for #cozymystery when I saw a review from someone who loves the series but hates the covers. Feels they are too cartoonish/not genre reflective.

Do you think they are right? Should I rebrand?

I second that. Give me a review and I'll be a happy writer!
Someone sent me an article about Christmas gift ideas for writers and asked what I thought. Personally, I don’t need an Oxford comma-themed coffee mug or Edgar Allan Poe socks. I just want book reviews. Spreading the word about my work is the best gift. That, and whiskey. But mostly book reviews.

It's not Christmas until Rizzo says, "Light the lamp, not the rat!" and Hans Gruber falls from the Nakotomi Tower.

So say we all.
It has “Christmas In Hollis” and “Let It Snow.” It has Christmas packing tape and a Christmas tree at a Christmas party. It has a Santa suit and “HO-HO-HO.” It happens at Christmas and involves a visit for Christmas. This is not a hard question.
British public’s verdict is in: Die Hard is not a Christmas movie

The Anthropic settlement was a fun way to realize that if my ex-publishers (who also stopped paying royalties) had filed copyrights, & I had done the same when I started self-publishing, I wouldn't be out $45,000 in compensation for stolen works.

I'll be retroactively copyrighting now & forward.

This is why it's important to have Arts/Humanities courses AND STEM courses. It all fits together, they compliment each other.

There's no such thing as useless education.

Not indie authors.

“No one’s writing anything new!”

Indie authors are.

This is SO much easier than say, stopping Amazon. A website that sells stuff cheap who ship everywhere is HELPFUL, something they've exploited to make themselves nearly indispensable as people struggle to afford bare essentials.

ChatGPT? Just don't fucking go there. Your life will be BETTER for it.

As someone who works in the tech industry--absolutely.

They are testing the waters. These are top-down orders. The ONLY way to stop it is a visceral negative reaction. Write articles. Post your rage. Email. Post. @. All those things.

Only you have the power to kill it.
Let me give some insight on this, as a producer in the dub industry who worked with major streamers, who's witnessed first-hand where this push for AI is coming from.

tl;dr: Only CEOs want this. Tell them how much you hate it. Be loud, email, call, @, post. You will kill this.

🧵⬇️
The only thing less human than these AI dub performances is the decision to sign off on them

A company this big can pay human actors a decent wage, not produce slop that intentionally removes the human element.
