I'll never forget coming out of a handicap stall and a woman looked very upset and said I shouldn't be using it, when another woman very quickly defended me and said that I may not LOOK it, but I may still need it. It was the first time I was ever like "oh yeah, I am allowed to take up space"

I don't always need my cane, but I AM always in pain. Things like handrails, wide steps, low beds, handicap bathrooms, etc are all very useful.

I'm ashamed to say that I never really saw just how many buildings were inaccessible until I was around 20, when my pain really started to hinder me
