It sucks though because a lot of European institutions hold a significant stake in US actors entangled in the AI bubble right now, for example the Norwegian Statens pensjonsfond has substantial investments. So even without European cash transfers, Europe will get hit hard by this bubble as well.

Yeah, no, it's a bubble. GenAI simply is not cost effective and it will never be, there are already papers out that prove that those marketing promises are complete nonsense. So it will crash, the only question is who will pick up the bill. Will Europe & China bail-out the US again? Not likely.

Meiner Meinung nach ist Wie völlig irrelevant wenn nicht alles unter Was erfüllt ist und Wer ist völlig irrelevant wenn Wie nicht erfüllt ist :-) Und ob jemand vor ewigkeiten mal irgendwas obsoletes gelernt hat, ist sowieso nur bei einer Erstanstellung ausschlaggebend um echtes training zu beginnen.

Jo, aber die Krux liegt darin, daß LLMs nicht rechnen oder denken, nur eine statische wahrscheinliche aussage im besten Fall machen welche ihr Trainingmaterial hergeben. Leicht schön gefärbt mit pre/post-processing.

In other words: All those promises are mute, all those billions invested not only aim for users that don't exist (especially not when they get charged to become profitable), the scaling is actually worse than predicated. And all this pre/post processing will not hide it forever. Happy bubbling!

Well, what they do is 80s tech that was not considered viable because it was never going to be cost effective and scaling effects have shown diminishing results.

Don't worry, AI companies are already lobbying for bailout - maybe only the country is crashing and the stockholders can bugger of with their billions into some other country :-)

Yeah, it's just speculation based on past experiences but keep in mind, the size of this bubble is something new. The dotcom and the 2008 are nothing in comparison, so even while the internet will survive companies and countries stuck in it will be hit hard.

And all of it simply because Western companies were greedy and thought they could save a few pennies while the Chinese literally stole all the know-how and then build upon it while the Western companies did... well, nothing beside paying out big bucks to shareholders.

Nah, most big platforms that allow & use GenAI will simply die out and be replace by high quality moderated ones. Those that do survive will turn into 69% ads padded with 21% slop fest. The internet is just fine, companies betting on GenAI will just end up like companies betting on NFT - irrelevant.

You can always revert back to buy an authentic Austrian cooking book on amazon. Over 2000 year of experience beats out everything you may find under the topic Thanksgiving and if you import the correct ingredients it will be healthier while loosing you weight too :-)

Ich finde es witzig, daß Österreich als Steueroase bezeichnet wurde von der EU und dann hast ein Land wo mehr Steuer verloren gehen wie alle Steuerosen weltweit zusammen.

Wenn jemand wirklich eine Ehrung verdienen würde, dann wird er normalerweise von Politikern in den Tod getrieben. Ein perfektes modernes Beispiel wäre da Alan Turing.

Die Geschichte hat sowieso schön aufgezeigt, daß diejenige welche zu Lebenszeiten Ehrungen bekommen sie normalweise am wenigsten verdienen. Das ganze Theater ist mehr ein politische Selbstberäucherung des Vergebers den eine show für den Empfänger.

Nope, so funktioniert das nicht. Was kostet sind Stromspitzen, daher wenn man unnötiges laufen hatten wenn ein hoher Bedarf ist, dann zahlen das alle. Daher braucht es wirklich in Österreich dedarforientierte Energiebepreisung.
