Again, I can’t imagine giving up the joy - and in this case, the agony - of reading authentic student work.

My god 😢

“We haven’t broken / We are learning how to bend.”
Ok kid!

Idk how any teacher would willingly give up authentically reading students’ work. That instinctive happy grunt, that “oooh,” that “oh I see you.” Why would we *ever* give that up?

Keep schools human.

So many lessons now have “condensed” or “shorter version” tags

Handy visual I just gave students who asked where I was in my teaching career

Teaching kids how to lead their own discussions - it’s kinda cool to pull back the veil and let them see how I plan.

They especially liked “challenge an assumption” and could point to specific chats that were sparked by me just being *contrary.* ❤️

Always a good time presenting with @jenorr 🥰

Some of my favorite compliments are about how we always find a reason to laugh. Despite *all* the hard conversations.

I like to think our students appreciate it even more than the good folks at our PDs and presentations.

Version History extension on Chrome is🔥

also... cool to see the "Active Writing Time" info so easily. It's good to see patterns. (10 Hrs!? Sheesh bud.)

“Let’s each list 100 NBA players before the class ends” might be the purest, most wholesome and delightful note-passing I’ve ever intercepted from students during a work period.

Prohibit cell phones and kids take it back to 1992

We make such a mistake when we assume students feel universally excited about (or ready for) an AI-driven future.

A few discussions in my classroom this week say otherwise.

Walking into my house, I told my 3yo, "Someone must have gotten mommy some flowers..."

But they were for me! 😍
Thanks, ASCD!

Fwiw, the average answer among my sophomores was “50 years.” (Without me leaning on the scale at all.)

That’s... within their lifetimes.

Most of my students - without being dramatic - casually expect the rule of law to fully collapse within their lifetimes.

Gotta love when a kid is just a "natural" note taker. Like writing on the board is a performance art. (I guess it is!)

Little flourishes like this ("oops, no money") really bring it all together😆
