I had some time recently to test out a few new techniques for some red paper drawings. I drew on cardstock and took the suggestion a few folks made and implemented some more colors! More to come soon! #sketch #posca

I have placed the sketch with a brown Posca marker and a black pen against a gnarled old hope chest, giving emphasis to the over-all Old Timey vibe of the sketch. A photo of a small sketch of a turn-of-the-century metal framed bed next to a snowy window, both sort set adrift against a black marker background drawn on red paper. The bed is frame is white, and the quilt is highlighted with shades off-white, grey, and black and of course, the red of the paper. Strange white lights float and flitter around the empty bed and window in this odd space. I have placed the sketch with two black pens against a gnarled old hope chest, giving emphasis to the over-all Old Timey vibe of the sketch.

An illustration depicting an eldritch ritual among desert ruins at sunset. At the focal point of the illustration, a young woman with short red hair in a black cloak clutches desperately to some kind tall effigy of long wooden poles and animal bones, topped with the skull of a four-horned sheep. She kneels in the desert sand, back to the viewer, clutching the wooden polls that construct the effigy with bloodied hands. Blood trickles down her arms and onto the sand at her knees, where a circle is drawn encompassing her and the effigy. The piece is painted in oranges and yellows with a touch of purple, and of course, the black of the woman’s cloak. Overall, the illustration has a foreboding and desperate feel to it. An illustration of a young woman/girl standing on top of a van with her arms outstretched as she communes with a trio of anomalous lights in the twilight sky before her. The scene is set on a dark forested back road, the yellow van (with a California plate that says BELIEVE) pulled over with the hazards on and the right-hand door open as if by some intuition, she knew exactly where to stop and get out. The girl herself is facing away from the viewer with her arms wide open in a welcoming gesture to the three lights in the sky. She wears a purple hoodie with a pink and orange ufo on the back, dark jean shorts with purple tennis shoes- colors that match the twilight sky. She’s Caucasian with long brown hair that blows in the wind. The lights look like vertical comets, long tails trailing behind them as they shoot upwards into the night sky. UFO, UAP, or whatever they may be, the young woman is ready to leave behind her life on earth and traverse the stars. An illustration of my young male Tabaxi/Catkin character Pan. He is a piebald tabby with green-yellow eyes and is a rogue. Pan stands as if he has just landed on his feet, his arms outstretched with a dagger in each hand and a tattered green cloak billowing behind him. Pan wears a peasant top of mismatched fabric, one white sleeve and one grey sleeve of a grey diamond motley pattern. Pan wears various leather belts and straps on his person to carry all his trinkets and weapons in, and also leather fingerless gloves, black pants, knee guards and linen wrapped around his feet and calves. Though his pose is dynamic, the illustration itself is static, with heavy black linework and a muted palette that is reminiscent of vintage illustrations.

I LOVE the Cozy Grove games! I played the first one back in 2021 and recently found out the second one, Camp Spirit, had already been released and I started playing it back in August. I thought it was time I finally did some fanart! #cozygrove #cozygrovecampspirit

At her feet are two of the companions from the game, Craw the dog and Snugula the snail (who is sleeping), both of which also have little mushroom accents on their head and shell respectively. On the whole, this illustration has a charming and cozy vibe to it, not unlike the game!

Not my scrapbook, but loose adhesive photo albums I found in storage. I decided that whoever invented self-adhesive photos albums should be arrested… these were important photos, like my brother’s Christening, and I had to spend hours painstakingly removing them from the album sleeves 🫠

They photos are labeled “Erik’s Baptsim July 25, 1987” and show scenes from a Catholic baptism, my brother in a white baptism gown and cap, various adults who are very 1980s, etc etc.

Another hand-drawn mini! This time for an old-but-new character I started playing in another campaign: Long Lankin, swashbuckler! Some of you may remember this character, I’ve drawn him over the years but never had a place for him. He has at last found his purpose and I’m having fun playing him!

The photo of my cat Pan that I based the original drawing of. I’ve always loved this gremlin shot of him, I’m glad I was able to turn it into a piece of art! Maybe sometime I’ll re-do the black and white version!
A photo of Pan, a piebald mackerel tabby posing in a way that gives of STRONG gremlins vibes, and my inspiration for my Grimalkin pieces. He’s mid-sniff of an unopened can of coca-cola, his butt in the air, back raised ready to do an investigation… but he has his raised his head ever so slightly and is looking at the camera. It’s a difficult pose to describe, but just know there is some pure goblin energy going on here.

My original drawing, which was part Catnip Coalition of Burbank, California’s Black Cat show! I kept most of the drawing the same, though I did give the pumpkins vines instead of surrounding it by oak leaves, which in hindsight didn’t make a lot of sense 🤷🏻‍♀️

A black cat with his butt and tail raised in the air mid-investigation of a pumpkin looks back at the viewer, his mischief interrupted. The above drawing was a re-drawing of this illustration I did back in 2014!
The original, 10-year old version from 2014 of the drawing in the previous post. This drawing is very similar to the new, 2024 version with some differences, the main difference being that my skill level has greatly improved the past 10 years. Another change I made from this decade old version is the curved tree trunk is made of multiple tree trunks close-together and receding back into space, and looks more like a cave made of trees as opposed the single curved tree in the new version. There are also more prey animal bones, like a deer skull and various rib bones and the ground appears to be mud mixed with blood instead of droplets. However, the feral feminine energy remains the same, and this is more of a “face lift” with an improved skill set than anything else.

Merged the lineart and my sketch layers on accident and did too much painting to go back. Fortunately I’m using a really textured brush so I can erase the sketch later and go back over my lineart and not have it look Bad. I did the whiskers on a different layer and that Saved Me

As for the drawing, I was inspired by some photos I saw on Pinterest that I traced back to a seller/costumer with the handle Olga-l9o on the Russian website livemaster.ru. Love the Cainhurst/Vileblood vibe, so I decided to run with it.

A new drawing completed using only the new brushes from the latest @procreate.com update! This was definitely a challenge… The new painting brushes are neat, but they’re different than what I’m used to and it took me a bit to get the hang of. Not bad just… different. #procreate #darkart

New look for Ainur! And me! I can’t think of a single time I purposely chose neon green for something.

I had to search for a song for her… I think Nox Aeterna by Qntal is a good fit!
