Crikey. I've been massively cutting back on my subscriptions/etc lately to try to save money, so of course my Entomological Society membership is due to renew and it's $175! Guess I'll go rogue this year; it means less access to older journal articles but that price is too damn steep.

I wonder what it's like to fall asleep when you go to bed instead of struggling in vain to get your mind and body to wind down only to collapse into fitful slumber after three hours or so. SMDH

I HATE paying Adobe a monthly sub just to use Photoshop and Acrobat, but I've yet to find replacements for either program. GIMP is terrible, Affinity is apparently evil AI, and NOTHING seems to have the functionality of Acrobat (for editing etc, not just reading).

Is there such a thing as a free photo gallery platform that is customizable and ad-free (and not just for those willing to pay for those added features)?

Whew, a server restart seems to have fixed my Symbiota issues. I still can't get a backup downloaded, but I can add data and should be able to back everything up through my host.

Well... Apparently when changing PHP versions on my shared host, I broke my Symbiota installation so that I can't add data or download backups. If I can't fix this, my entire insect collection digitization journey comes to an abrupt halt.
