Board Game Arena: I won a 372-entrant Ticket to Ride tournament (#brag) but I almost didn't notice that the game that ended today was the final. Months ago I won a 128-entrant 7 Wonders tournament. I think those are the only two I've outright won but it's hard to be sure.

1. I try to ignore our president's (and his flunkies') social media spew, but the "no room at the table for invaders" post (from an official government agency account) is singularly enraging, probably meant as rage-bait, given the backstory of Thanksgiving.

Best choice (not original to me) is "Don't Stop Believing" ( @hooverstreetrag.org as I recall)

My sentimental choice is Neil Diamond - "America"

My funny choice is Creed - "Higher"
10 Better Choices for the National Anthem Than the Actual National Anthem:

1. Seven Nation Army
2. Fight the Power
3. Piano Man
4. We Can Work It Out (Stevie Wonder Version)
5. Back on the Chain Gang
6. The Chain
7. Runnin' Down a Dream
8. Let's Go Crazy
9. I Love Rock 'n Roll
10. Believe

Bakeoff: I just realized I had forgotten about an entire series, not just any series but the one from last year. To make up for this I will lore dump from 2020 onward (pre-pandemic is before my time for Bakeoff purposes, although I've heard lovely things about Mel & Sue).

What are you watching these days?

Family: Just finished Bakeoff, onto Taskmaster 20 soon.

7M: Phineas & Ferb

13M (if 7M isn't around): My Hero Academia

45F & I (50M) (if boys not around): Long Story Short

(17F rarely watches TV (rarely "around"))

LSS is so good we might do a BoJack rewatch.

17F was in She Kills Monsters in March (as Miles) & I just finished watching video of the performance.

Just in time to get the email that the video of Merry Wives (17F as Mistress Page, 13M (then 12) as Host of the Garter) is ready.

Today is Patrick Mahomes's first NFL Thanksgiving game. (If you disagree, that's a Mandela Effect.)

KC last visited DAL in 2017, the year Chargers got the CBS Thanksgiving game at DAL. KC last visited DET in 2019 (T-day: Bears-Lions on Fox).

Today is KC's 1st T-day since 2006 (vs Den, prime time)

News, 2025-11-26, part 2

1. Someone fatally shot two National Guard troops in DC. I wait at least 24 hours on these because so much initial reporting is mistaken. But the larger points here are that there is a "these" (shooting in the U.S.) and that the Guard had no business being in DC.

I took a Jazz Band class in high school. Our school has an outstanding marching (high-stepping) T-Connection Band but the jazz band was different. We played Monk, Basie, AC Jobim, "A Child is Born," "Birdland," and such. We did gigs. Mr. Kirk was my second-favorite teacher after my math teacher.

News, 2025-11-23, strictly international tonight

1. Axios published a "leaked" 28-point "peace plan" for Ukraine. The plan was attributed to the U.S. but deeply favorable to Putin's regime, and (allegedly) drafted by Russia.

KFOX playlist, careening between decades:
* Journey - "Don't Stop Believing"
* Skid Row - "I Remember You"
* The Who - "Behind Blue Eyes"
* Alice in Chains - "Rooster"

With 13M in the car I restrained from singing but so help me I lip synced every word

My first guess in Bandle today (#1194) was wrong, but in addition to being in the right year it was a song whose title is synonymous with the correct song title!

(My second guess was correct, not bad for a "Very Hard (Par 5)")

Duo shows me the same ad so many times that now I consistently speak along the lines "Which royally stucks" "Was that a British joke?!?" "I'm sorry, what was that Nigel?" in the correct timing.

If only I pronounced Spanish words so precisely.

Harvard-Yale football facts:
* Harvard has hosted even years (Yale odd) since 1945. (1919-42 it was the opposite) Except 2020 (COVID). 19 & 21 were both in NH.
* Yale on track to win 4th in a row. Harvard had won 9 in a row 2007-2015.
* The 2004 "we suck" prank was an all-timer. Hats off, alas

In "The One With Frank Jr." (Friends), Ross makes a 'Hall Pass' list: 5 celebs he could sleep with (if they said yes obv). It'd be more challenging if he (a straight man) had to list only men. I'm a straight man, so...

* Noel Fielding (watching Bakeoff rn)
* Josh Johnson
* Vidura BR
* Zohran
* TBD

13M will be Patrick in his school's February production of The Spongebob Musical. Last week I showed 13M & 7M the "no, it's Patrick!" scene & they absolutely loved it. But this whole thread is a proud dad bragging specifically about three kids' acting performances.
