Something that I don't understand is why so many companies are trying to make their games into Roblox clones, such as Fortnite with Creative/UEFN or Riot Games with Hytale before they shut it down, or even Mojang/Microsoft with MC Bedrock.
It's insane given how many issues Roblox has.

Finally making it to the end of Rustlings, but I have to say, Exercises 11 - 13 could really do with some work, I got stuck many times here since there were suddenly a bunch of new concepts dropped on me out of nowhere which I had not learned yet. The rest has been great though!

Been a bit since I posted, but I've made it to Lesson 11 of Rustlings now! Unfortunately, I failed Hashmaps 3 and the second quiz because I got stuck/confused by some of it...
I'm still having a lot of fun learning the language though :D

Just finished the 3rd lesson of Rustlings (if statements), got to say, I really like how easy it is to set up this entire thing, and the error messages are extremely helpful!
On to Primitive Types next!

Been trying to stay consistent with learning Rust via Rustlings but I've always struggled with routine, but I'm still committed to trying to learn the language, even if it doesn't work out for the best, it's always good to try and learn something new!
Hopefully more tomorrow.

What is it with all of these Awakari bridge accounts spamming my feeds? I swear every single programming language feed has like 7 different bridged bots reposting Hacker News stuff. (Example: Rustlang / C++ feeds)
I don't need to see the same post 28 times over smh

Today marks my first day of trying to learn Rust properly!
I'm going to try and go through Rustlings and make some small side projects alongside it. (ie. Simple console chat app to learn how to make a networked application)
Hopefully things go well!

As someone who only really knows C++, Java & Lua (and not very well, mind you), I'd love some tips on how to learn Rust given my background.
There's no way I can do idiomatic Rust from the start ofc, but I'd appreciate some advice for a beginner like me.

Been looking into Rust for my next project recently, but I have some concerns about Crates / Cargo due to the recent rise in supply-chain attacks. Bevy pulled in 500 dependencies last time, and it would take 1 of those being compromised for all hell to break loose.
Nintendo has become the Disney of gaming, they have a cult following that will defend them to their graves, and they are trying to choke the industry with their latest patents, they are immoral, despisable and are trying to monopolize the game dev industry.
Shame on USPTO.
This is disgusting, Nintendo is literally declaring war on gaming here. If any of these patents work in a court case, then we have failed as a society and as an industry. How is this not illegal?
I'm never buying a Nintendo product again.

Might be being a bit crazy here, but I think a company should not be able to patent a game mechanic, let alone one as simple as summoning creatures to fight for you. (*cough* Nintendo)

It is an affront to creativity itself and a sin against life in my eyes. It's a tool to steal and ripoff, nothing more.

This video by CircleToons is saying exactly what's wrong with the game development industry nowadays to be honest, why are we chasing hyperrealism and 100 million dollar+ projects? To appease 70 year old investors that just want more and more money?? It's stupid.

Does anyone have any decent advice or pointers on how to architect larger / more complex game projects?? I find myself getting stuck at this part before I've even started since I almost immediately write myself into a literal labyrinth and end up giving up out of frustration.
Hey there! I'm currently known as MasterBro online, but I prefer to be called MB, I'm currently learning C++ & Pixel Art and I hope to begin being able to post some progress on my current project in the near future. If you have any tips and/or advice for a beginner dev, I'd love to hear!
