If you want accurate reporting and analysis, not fearmongering, subscribe to Law Dork, where I always treated this case as the dud it was. (I covered it at the Sixth Circuit; said it was not at all a likely candidate for SCOTUS for review; and that was, basically, that.) www.lawdork.com
BREAKING: The Supreme Court DENIES former county clerk Kim Davis's request for the justices to take up her longshot bid to overturn 2015's Obergefell v. Hodges marriage equality decision. No justice even writes about the request.

I left voice messages for my senators for the first time this morning, calling for Chuck Schumer and Dick Durbin to get put out to pasture. It felt good, and didn't actually take all that much time! I might do this more often!
Call the United States Capitol switchboard at (202) 224-3121 and they will connect you with your senator's office.
No matter how they voted last night, every one of them has a say in maintaining Chuck Schumer and Dick Durbin as their caucus leaders. Every one of them is accountable here.

really important element of this basically total victory is that it puts the fear of god in republican incumbents and may bring the redistricting push to a total halt

Whatever happened to laboratories of democracy? Frankly a big part of the cluster we find ourselves in is that we are about 8 different countries locked in a horrible mutually abusive polycule. I have been to Nebraska. I have no interest in being subject to the desires of the people in Nebraska.

If I had a nickel for every time Brad Paisley sang the national anthem before an 18-inning World Series game, I would have two nickels, which isn’t a lot but it’s weird that it happened twice
I talked to Brad Paisley this afternoon about his unbroken streak of performing National Anthems before World Series games that go into overtime, including last night's epic... "I’m available also for football. I’d like to see that go into more quarters, as well.” variety.com/2025/music/n...

Country star and Dodgers fan Brad Paisley has now sung the national anthem at the two longest World Series games ever: 'Call me Mr. More Baseball.'

like, a lot of these are things I want, which makes me all the more aware that Democrats aren't in fact offering to do them.
how many of these "Democratic policies" were in the 2024 Democratic Party platform document? 1? maybe 2?
compare that to the list of unpopular Republican policies, 13 of which Trump has accomplished since taking office, and most of which have been floated by admin officials as possible priorities

Fuck man Jamelle Bouie is amazing. This skeet and all the replies below it are Worth It.
i mean i don't think you can separate any of this discussion from the fact that so many of the participants are men who clearly have hang-ups about their inability to perform a certain kind of blue collar masculinity

Americans need to reconcile that this is pretty much what the Obama-era drone strikes were. Any time a prior administration abused its power and it was greeted by a shrug because “we’re the good guys” - this is why you shouldn’t do that.
At least 46 people have been killed in the attacks.

The conversation is hilarious and Anna's article is fascinating. Anyone (like Lindsey) who doesn't think Anna is a "journalist" is extremely wrong about the nature of journalism. @404media.co does a lot of FOIA work and that is very much Journalism. Anna's reporting on other reporting is Journalism.
