The hexclad and pureclad pans look great but they are very expensive. I’ going to slowly replace my pans with stainless steel when the time calls. I have a plugin table top induction hob to save space and other devices that do most of our cooking. (Instant Pot, thermomix …)

There are cheaper options around that are still stainless steel. My Pro Cook was a present but I’ve used Ikea versions that have also been decent.

Yep, just make sure you use them correctly and they will be awesome, and last ages. Google “tips for using stainless steel pans” and you should be fine. You could always try one to start to make sure you are happy. I have a deep frying pan with lid and it’s great.

I have some coated pans from Berghoff and Scoville. The Berghoff ones are flaking and the non-stick surface not as good any more. The Scoville are more durable but still flaking a little. My Pro Cook stainless steel pan is awesome.

Go stainless steel. Used properly they can be non-stick and very easy to clean. Also, no coating that flakes off into your food.

If it’s consistent across the department and they have made it clear to the students before the mocks that they are doing that then it’s not a huge issue. It would be better to give two scores, one that is “correct” and one with their policy to highlight the importance of showing working.

The responses from educational organisations seem very measured and positive - the ones I’ve seen from parents and ex-teachers are the opposite, saying that it hasn’t gone far enough.

It’s feels like (but I hope I’m wrong!) they wanted to include more but were categorically told “No!” And therefore opted for less knowing that probably only half of what they recommended will actually happen.

In terms of Maths, more detail on a reduction in content in primary and ks4. More options for post-16 students without grade 4 that allow them to progress in other qualifications. Outside of maths - more emphasis on a skills based curriculum - employers are craving it. It’s all a bit woolly and meh…

I was a bit underwhelmed by the review. It feels like they have held back (maybe forced to!).

I need to show this list to my wife. She’s always rated your book choices highly.

Need a north east MathsConf - have a word with them or me!

It was something new the released for the A-level session. I can ask the team if they have something similar for further.

Some people need to take a chill pill!

Why are they controversial?

Without the typo obviously!!!

We just need to make it so that everyone has a path they can follow that gives them the same opportunities. If a student has nadir issues sitting exams - it shouldn’t hold them back from learning and achieving high level qualifications.

I wrote a TES piece a while ago with my wife about timings in exams. There was clear evidence that time limits have their pros and cons and most of the cons affect SEND students. Some people argued that it’s very hard to make a system that is fair for everyone…
