The secretary of the Socialist Workers Party says he knows Corbyn well & they met up last week. They chatted on the train to conference

He got off the train & found out he'd been expelled from Your Party *by JC's allies*

(They're not allowing dual membership - ie being in another socialist party)

“The chancellor’s failure to levy a windfall tax on the banking sector in the budget is a damning indictment of the stronghold the sector has over our politics.

Reeves could have raised as much as £8bn.

Instead, the banks have raked in record profits."

Exhibit B is how angrily ministers are insisting the SEND reforms will not be a cuts exercise, despite the need to find £6bn in savings. But you can see why reporters are sceptical - and why it gets written up like this - when you have the above example.

Professor of Climate Change Tim Lenton @exeter.ac.uk describes tipping points cascades.

Coral reefs appear to be doomed.

AMOC collapse will both freeze and superheat UK, and halve wheat and maize globally.

Positive tipping points, eg death of oil & gas from policy are essential for survival.

This is the problem.

Looking from the outside we've noticed that gun crime has been normalised for decades, if not for the entire history of the US.

Even the idea of owning a gun seems insane to most people around the world.

UK govt can save over £20bn a year by ending payment of interest on commercial banks’ central bank reserves.

Subsidy implemented after the 2007-08 crash. Banks are very profitable.

Since 2023, the EU stopped paying interest on central bank reserves.

UK can find better uses of £20bn+.
