I was asked about @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social. I said I'd endorse him if I lived in NY,

that “He’s become symbolic of all of these fears that people have about so many other things that are not his to hold,”

and a bunch of other stuff:

I’m not blaming the Squad for anything that’s happening in Gaza, no. I’m blaming the Squad for clearly getting caught up in a foreign intelligence operation and using their massive platforms to further divide the Democratic Party before the most important election of our lives.

Dems are learning the wrong lesson from losing their dominance in the culture war, only pivoting to economic issues. Dems need to connect to *the voters they're losing* on vibes and identity while delivering impactful results.

For those of you who missed Church this week:

Lawyer: Jesus, what must I do to inherit eternal life?

Jesus: Love God with all your heart, soul, strength, and mind; and love your neighbor as yourself.

Lawyer: So who is my neighbor?

I did not have an epic bro-metal cover of a 112 year old bluegrass song that was really popular in college on my 2025 bingo card, but here we are:

@mta.info decided to unveil a new subway map on World Autism Day and I have never felt more seen.
A new subway diagram has arrived! MTA leadership (including MTA Chair and CEO Janno Lieber and Chief Customer Officer Shanifah Rieara) unveiled a reimagined subway map, its first new design in half a century.

Check out the new map on digital screens in stations, and as it rolls out on train cars 🚇

Those trying to understand the tariffs as economic policy are dangerously naive.

No, the tariffs are a tool to collapse our democracy. A means to compel loyalty from every business that will need to petition Trump for relief.

No human system is human-proof. It's scary that there is no perfect organization of society that keeps everyone in line. The solution is actually democratic, asking how are our systems meeting the needs of the people, and doing something when they don't.
one thing i keep thinking about is how there is simply no way to design a constitutional system that can resist authoritarian incursion if participants in that system do not actually care that much

This is we need more TV and Film about religious communities, faith, and scripture.
I really appreciated the Rugrats Passover episode - it was my first introduction to a Jewish way of life outside of school. I’d not met any Jewish families or children as there are fewer here. It showed Judaism in the context of an ordinary family who looked like anyone else’s.

Great idea but I think this will be as likely as Disney releasing the Original Theatrical cut of Star Wars. 💔

TIL That we're not living in 1984 and we're not living in Brave New World either, we're living in Fight Club.
I know the material reasons for the rise of fascism. I also think another reason - which doesn’t get talked about as much because it’s embarrassing that humans can be that naive - is that when you are financially comfortable but bored, abstract cruelty can give you a sense of purpose.

The intensity of the fascist takeover is going to take a toll. Remember to:

1. Rest

2. Take breaks from social media and reading the news

3. Invest time in community

4. Go outside

5. Drink water, eat healthy, sleep as well as you can

6. Ask for help and support when you need it

Wanna get radicalized? Ask AI web search policy questions.

According to Perplexity, about a 1% increase in *effective* federal tax rate on the top .5% could pay for a 10% salary increase for every public school teacher in the US. Feel free to check the convo.

how many public schools teachers are there in the USA
As of 2025, there are approximately 3.8 million public school teachers in the United States, with 3.2 million in full-time positions.

I just heard: "human language is the primary means by which human beings resist the world as it is given".

Now I need to be quiet for a while.

I think the big political lesson from the Trump Era really is.

Everyone's choices matters.

You have more power than you think.

Progressivism isn't dead, it's gonna change.

You can help make a stronger more loving world.

Don't ever wait for permission to do something.

Go do your thing.
