Having got into the four year cycle of new car finance, and combining a midlife crisis with the covid crisis, I fulfilled a lifelong desire for a topless sports car and got one of the best cars ever made (other than the Mini of course), the MX5.

A mark IV Mazda MX5, photographed side on, from a low perspective against a backdrop of fir trees and distant mountains. The low angle perfectly showcases the cars swooping curves. It is painted polymetal grey with black alloy wheels and the soft hood is down.

So, in order to keep Mayor Khan happy, I sold the Merc to a mad Irishman (who drove it back to the emerald isle) and bought my first 'new' new car. The coupé of the i20 was very rare but an absolutely brilliant car, than ran on the sniff of an oily rag (quite a change from the 3 litre Merc!)

Circumstances meant selling the R5 and I was then looking for a Mini. But a colleague was selling his Mercedes and it was too good an opportunity so I snapped it up. It served me well for many, many years but fell foul of the Ulez charge.

A huge black Mercedes estate. From the generation of Mercedes that were over-engineered and built with extraordinary quality. Last forever and impossible to destroy (Top Gear tried to destroy one, and failed). Those that are still going can easily do more than a million miles.

I loved the Renault 5 so much that when the ancient green one was too far gone (more rust brown than green and resolutely refusing to start) I got a slightly fresher one.

I feel I can only really do justice to this post with visual aids... None of these are my actual cars of course, but photos off the interwebs.
First up, demonstrating admirably that famous 'Renault roll'...

A very old, very tiddly Renault 5 taking a bend at speed. Its idiosyncratic suspension means that, whilst the car holds the road admirably, it leans out appreciably. The car is green, the scene is in winter and there are bare trees in the background.

Oh my... Watching QI on Dave and, wowsers... I - and the panellists - had no idea that Rorschach (of the eponymous ink blot test) was so seriously *hot*...

I think you're right - I think it's a Ford, but I think it's a Corsair... looking at the angle of the rear lights and slight upturn of the rear bumper... 😁

This is from Star Wars LoFi that I listen to, but I would really like to build an apartment like this...
Basically I really, really want to live in a galaxy far, far away...
