Benefits at Lower Third. Watching Benefits is a visceral cathartic experience. You don't just watch them you experience them. They sneak up behind you hit you over the head, knock you to the ground, jump on your head then kick you in the kidneys.

Headliners tonight at Chalk Brighton are Manchester's Maruja. Last time I saw them they blew me away, and they've just done it again. 10 tracks and 100 minutes. You have to see them!

First up at Chalk Brighton tonight are Belfast rap metal band Enola Gay. A 45 minute 11 track set of beautiful noise. Ireland seems to be producing so many great bands.

Am I the only one who hates and loathes the Thundercat record "Children of the ..."? It's quite possibly the most overrated self-satisfied smug show-off thing I've ever heard and I have to switch off 6Music and Radio 1 when they play it.

Saw Cork band Cardinals just a few weeks ago on the So Young tour and was well impressed and they were just as impressive tonight. Looking forward to their album.
