... I've heard that story about the Shrewsbury-Chester line, too! I believe they got close to saving the Welshpool-Whitchurch section of the Cambrian line in the mid-sixties, which would've been of huge benefit in connecting north Shropshire and Mid-Wales to the northwest. So much lost opportunity.

As a Labour supporter, I'm very unhappy about the withdrawal of support for the reopening: good transport links massively improve people's life chances and Os is too large a town (especially if you include the development around Whittington and Park Hall) to be unconnected to the wider world...

Sort of. I love international football but outside whatever league Salop are playing in, I've no interest at all in the EPL/EFL. My other team is Hamburg, so I watch quite a lot of German football (Bundesliga 1 & 2), and the Scottish Championship on iPlayer, but that's about it!

Although, even more frustratingly, you still do, Helen! 🙃 I can't believe closing the level crossing on the A5 twice an hour would create any more congestion than currently exists on the various roundabouts around the town. I'd visit Os far more regularly if I could simply change train at Gobowen.

Still a bit too early to say but I think this may be my favourite Cate Le Bon record yet. The sound is so dense and layered and every playback seems to reveal something new. She's a genius!
