This is a pretty stunning admission, he doesn't appear to know how group insurance works. Toyota/GM don't buy insurance, employers of that size are self-funded. They pay United or Aetna for admin services, but they pay for the actual health care themselves (with some catastrophic/stop-loss coverage)
Rand Paul on his healthcare plan: "What if you could join Costco? Costco has 44m members and if one person negotiated for all 44 and they bought a group plan like Toyota or General Motors does, they would be the largest collective entity in the country. They would drive prices down by sheer might."

I would have a lot more respect for the “unitary executive” theory of the Constitution if just one of its advocates argued for it when a President they didn’t like was in power.

POLITICO: Do you believe the second strike was necessary?

TRUMP: Uhhhh. Well it looked like they were trying to turn back over the boat. But I don't get involved in that. That's up to them.

i’m so sick of the way people feel entitled to cheap clothes. people are taking “no ethical consumption under capitalism” to mean “don’t blame me if there were slaves in the supply chain.”

clothes should cost money—the solution is that you need less clothes, and that you should be paying a lot more

Nobody treats the Republican base with more contempt or counts on them being stupid more than Republicans

Yes, and what if your access to affordable healthcare was considered a right guaranteed to everyone by the government and not a bauble of certain types of employment or friggin club store membership? What then?

Trump rages that Henry Cuellar didn’t pay him back for a pardon by switching parties, blasting Cuellar for a “lack of LOYALTY.”

In other words, Trump admits he was trying to use his pardon power to buy Republicans a House seat.

You are ABSOLUTELY NOT going to regret listening to this bird:
A male rock ptarmigan (Lagopus muta) in winter plumage.

Ptarmigan is from Gaelic 'tarmachan' meaning "croaker". The p- was added when people mistakenly assumed it was a Greek word.

A bird forever warning people: "A werewolf!" (just in case of werewolves).

Wisconsin GOP lawmakers who cast Milwaukee as a symbol of unchecked urban violence have repeatedly blocked the tools it needs to address bloodshed. They’ve stalled gun safety bills, stripped funding for prevention, and limited what cities can do to curb shootings.

Using rhetoric about “law and order,” state legislators have long stripped resources from violence prevention and advanced laws that could make shootings more likely.

One request. You do not comment until you read the entire thread. And you are respectful when you do. If not I will either restrict you or block you depending on how hateful you are.

Great, glad we’re on the same page, let’s begin.

also birth certificates are issued by counties and there are what like 3000 counties in the US? we have no national standard for what they say. how are you gonna find out parents' status? setting aside the more important issues, this is a logistical nightmare. admin burden forever
It really cannot be stressed enough that if we don’t have birthright citizenship we don’t have citizenship.

The only Americans who have any proof of citizenship are either naturalized adults or the tiny fraction of natural born citizens who are born abroad. Everyone else has birthright citizenship.

Others "said the most logical explanation was ... signaling for a rescue."
