This weekend Scotland has had dozens of marches by a religious cult that sing about killing catholics and Irish people, and are protected by the police. But if I chant "End the genocide. I support Palestine Action" I'm arrested for terrorism offences.

What a country we live in.

Absolutely incredible that Paul Hutcheon doesn't give a single mention to the charities and women's rights groups who have lobbied to scrap the benefit cap and rape clause. He gives all credit to Anas Sarwar and Labour.

It tells you that Labour only listen to themselves.

Poundland was one, if not THE, last places where you could get an actual £3 meal deal. Not £3.99 or £4.50 without a club card. Just £3. They've now removed it entirely.

If Scotland doesn't declare UDI right now I will scream.

it’s cool how they made a political podcast with the selling point of having all women hosts to counteract the usual male-dominated offerings, and they’re all white woman who have zero concept of intersectionality
Harman explaining that actually, horrible migrant crackdowns are left wing politics and if you - a white person - don’t like it, then you are actively harming people from ethnic minorities. An outrageous insult to the public’s intelligence IMO, offhandedly dropping a dog turd onto your dinner plate.

Every time I think I might just manage to hold my nose and vote SNP, Swinney reminds me that he can’t be trusted. Not with education and DEFINITELY not with women’s fundamental right to healthcare and freedom. I’m a Green Party member but unlikely to have a constituency candidate 😭

Conservatism is about begging you to think of poor private school kids, while decrying a fairly meagre state school breakfast club program as unacceptable waste, communism, abdication of parental responsibility, etc.

For Shabana Mahmood to attack some of the most cruelly treated people in the world as having won a "golden ticket" because they manage to get to and claim asylum in Britain is unforgiveable.

A new, far right, low for which I can think of no precedent, by any UK Government.

Absolutely mental take. People are frustrated with ex politicians using their status to access capital and powerful friends to advance policies that harm people's material conditions.

If you're upset that Mhairi Black has an acting gig then you need to go outside and fix your priorities.

Pointing out that maybe Your Party Scotland shouldn't use the phrase "Trans activists" was enough for them to delete the post and block me.
Are you sure you want to use the phrase "Trans activists"?

You can't call us transphobic until party conference is such a fantastic rallying cry for the left, 10/10. No notes.
Have you considered waiting for conference before accusing the party of being transphobic?

This btw to me is absolutely *mind boggling*: there were Scottish Greens pointing to (genuine, serious) SNP failings on trans rights and healthcare as part of the final anti-BHA push, but now wanting to buy into a project that has bent over backwards to accommodate and centre a transphobic MP. Odd!
I frankly think it's wishful thinking for YP, a Westminster reaction to Westminster conflicts *that can't even draw a line on transphobia*, to do vastly better than that at Holyrood, thinking spurred by moving in self-confirmatory bubbles and fundamentally unserious views of how government works.

"The Nats are incompetent, tired, and don't deserve to be in power, but there's absolutely no way that Labour are ready to be in government" is, I am afraid to say, a screamingly funny take from the Scottish electorate.

Labour centrists puzzled by Labour's massive unpopularity, yet this week alone Starmer has defended peadophile pals and had a cozy meeting with a president committing genocide.

Yeah, such a mystery.

Interesting highlight from the Scottish Greens co-leadership hustings. @lornaslater.bsky.social, @gillianmacmsp.bsky.social, and @ross-greer.bsky.social all confirm that if they were in the English/Welsh Greens, they would vote for @zackpolanski.bsky.social.

"Independence is normal" is such a boring line. People in Scotland don't want "normal". We've normalised austerity, corporate greed, and inequality in the UK for decades.

No, independence shouldn't be normal. It should be transformational. It should move us away from normal into a new tomorrow.

Reminding everyone that Kate Forbes spent years carefully dancing around her socially conservative views, enabling her fans to handwave away with "well she never said that" and then DAY ONE of her campaign was "hello, I am actually more conservative than my detractors have been claiming"
Kate Forbes has an absolutely bizarre cult that surrounds her in the media. There is absolutely no substance to the claim she's a level above anyone else, it's purely vibes because she doesn't scare legacy media commentators.
