I must admit I've never really considered Chomsky a "nice thing", though his political analyses are often spot on. but the distance between his politics and his practices have generally been quite wide imo.

But today at most universitues linguistic anthropology is that one weirdo in the anthropology department. Before Chomsky it was mainstream linguistics.

I think very few archaeoastronomical claims of architectural alignments are really firmly established.

In Mesoamerica archeologistst tend to be extremely skeptical even of solstitial alignments actually mentioned in written sources, like the Templo Mayor.

Not that I know of. Also no word for solstice but those they did observe. On the night sky they seem to gave tracked stsrs eith much more interest than the moon. Thry did and do take account if lunar phases for agriculture.

The otomi were actual moon worshippers.

Pointing to the northernmost moonrise every 18-19 years seems like a fairly weak claim for an intentional astronomical alignment to me. But i guess who knows

That definitely sounds like a calque. There are many if such calques in the Mesoamerican culture are as well. But not that particular one. I know several languages of the Mississippi area used sun as a royal title. Suggesting sun worship.
