And guess what? Democrats called for gun reform and right wingers made jokes about it. Trump said calling anybody to give his condolences would be a waste of time and then skipped the funeral. So we don't have to imagine. It literally just happened. And not a single person on the left called for a war, or called for the Republican party to be labeled a domestic terrorist organization. You cared so little that you don't even remember it.

Then the shootings happened. I questioned whether I should even post it as I’m very triggered by the violence. If things feel heavy, you aren’t alone. I don’t have the spoons to add any discourse about the violence, but if you’d like to read the extended version of my thoughts on suicide awareness check out Maggie Boxey Writes on substack. On my wrist is a butterfly with a semicolon for its body.
The semicolon means the sentence could have ended, but didn’t. The wings remind me of the transformation of coming out of the dark and of keeping going. Suicidal thoughts are more common than we think. I worry that mine will come back, but if they do… This tattoo is my reminder: pause, breathe, keep going. If the thoughts are heavy, please reach out. In the U.S., dial or text 988. You’re not alone.

Today, on Severe ME Awareness & Remembrance Day, we honor the 25% of people with severe and very severe ME.
August 8th is the birthday of Sophia Mirza, who died in 2005 after medical abuse worsened her severe ME. Today we carry her memory, and the memories of so many others, forward.
