Shin Megami Tensei did not drop the series title of the Megami Tensei light novels, is the thing. It very much still carries that.

That is, the story and vibe of the game is great even if the gameplay is turbo jank and I recommend people just steamroll it on Easy.

Caligula Effect. If you're capable of enduring jank, the first game's Overdose version, if you want something smoother, Caligula Effect 2.

You also can't say Megami Tensei because Persona hasn't developed its own spinoff that drops the subtitle yet.
