So the American taxpayer eats it twice, once on tariffs and again on a second farm bailout. I’m glad farmers are getting help, no one should lose their farm, but it’s remarkable how fast “socialism” stops being a dirty word when the checks clear in red counties.

Not only are we stifling current research, we're preventing the next generation from receiving training they need to jumpstart their scientific and health careers. Faculty like my grad advisor who pour their valuable time and energy into securing these opportunities are left picking up the pieces.

These data centers are notoriously energy and water intensive using millions of gallons of water daily and consuming electricity at rates that rival entire cities. I’m thinking today about all the women doing DEI work in universities, and how all of our canceled grants and shuttered initiatives means that not only are we losing the time we’ve already put in, we’re now even more behind our male peers who stayed focused on their research.
