…especially given evidence that schools that kept EBacc GCSE option pathways had higher langs take-up than those that didn’t, even controlling for eg levels of pupil disadvantage. (But very aware of the challenges facing schools in trying to offer langs with low teacher recruitment - v difficult!)

Thanks for this! Under EBacc, learners chose 1 hums subject (history/geography) + 1 language; this measure says, pick 2 from arts/hums/langs (rather than one of each, which would be my preference). I’m also worried about the impact on langs take-up with fewer incentives for schools to offer them…
