Maybe this is just how it always has to be, but I thought the books were really clever and dry and witty, whereas the movie was more made for TV, you know? Slightly cliched and corny.

That's a battle cry from long ago. Have you ever actually heard an old person say that? I'm 71 and I live in a Fossilized Community. None of us is stupid or selfish enough to think that, and if we did, we wouldn't say it out loud.
