Incredibly galling to hear Sauer talk about how the president is accountable to the public through elections, when the president he's referring to is one who attempted to illegally overturn an election he lost

Hot Take of the day: 95% of all "tiny homes" would be better off purchasing a single wide manufactured home and installing it in place.

As a bonus, the single wide could have a ramp up the side, and be way more ADA friendly. Reasonable size bathroom, no mandatory death loft, much more suitable

This basically is why I shake my head at every goddamn one of you who’s like “well we know the senate is nigh unwinnable for democrats for the foreseeable future,” because “foreseeable” there is doing ALL of the heavy lifting.
i dunno what the seventh party system will look like, but assuming the status quo is immutable is inane shit
again i am struck by how to so many its easier to believe in the end of american democracy than the end of the 6th party system

We're half a decade into studies finding that improving airflow in classrooms will reduce disease transmission enormously, and that bleaching surfaces etc. does very little. And yet nothing changes. Waves of flu and colds wash over schools, and the schools pretend it's an act of God.

I distinctly hope that the judges, the lawyers, the bureaucrats, the people who do this will never see heaven. I hope their guilt devours them, because if they do this and just go home and forget about it, they're monsters.
There is no sight that more efficiently puts the lie to immigration “court” than the common sight of children “representing themselves.” Children too small to climb into the chair, children in pajamas who don’t know where they are, children not yet old enough to speak.

So “the shipments directly threaten Americans” huh? The shipments were headed to the U.S. then?

There has been no debate here among constitutional scholars, historians, political scientists, anyone with a pulse really.

Any telling you that this very straightforward point, one that has been universally accepted for a century and a half, is now an "abstruse" issue is just a liar and a hack.
Anyone who knows this history should know there’s no contested issue.

there are of course many examples of political constituencies that have in fact killed scores of children (en route to some other evil goal), but I can't offhand think of any historical examples of a political constituency organized for that specific purpose

Evergreen.

Also, does anyone else think the “polarization” discourse and the “median/undecided voter” discourse are logically incompatible? EITHER voters are in increasingly disjunct groups at the extremes of a range OR there’s a crucial swath of people up for grabs in the middle, but not both.
I don’t understand why so many Democrats seem convinced that they can win over Republican voters. Those voters like Republicans and vote for them because they like their wretched policies. They do not want the diet version

Serious question: is there any reason to pay attention to the recalls on lithium ion batteries that the government is issuing? Like, I just got one for an external battery that I bought several years ago and they issued one for all the batteries that Rad Power bikes uses.

This. 100%.

Even the Georgians and Victorians, those infamously brutal eras with too much of a penchant for capital punishment, didn’t execute smugglers without a trial, and mostly didn’t execute with one. (Transportation or impressment was more common.)
It honestly doesn't even matter if it was cocaine in that boat.

Smuggling isn't a crime with an automatic death sentence.
NGL: I don’t even believe the assertion it was cocaine in that boat. Those images aren’t that clear.
