We review definitions of media literacy and its current educational gaps, show how superficial judgements ignore historical and production context, and propose the idea of "virtue mirroring" (the tendency to measure media against one's own modern virtues) as a factor in these quick dismissals. I'm genuinely shocked and pissed off. Especially because I'm the type of person who would've assisted this student with their research or spoken to them and helped them come up with their own original work had they reached out, but stealing my whole shit and presenting it in an academic setting as their own is crazy. And I'm even angrier that they've left me no other choice but to contact their university, and I'm asking yal to reach out and contact the university as well.
