yesterday ICE appeared in force on canal street, making what reporter @felipedlh.bsky.social described as “indiscriminate arrests” of anyone they racially profiled as potentially a non-citizen (read: black & brown people).

As a former federal law enforcement officer, licensed attorney, and one time traffic judge, I understand that I will be picked up by ICE based solely on the color of my skin. I carry my U. S. birth certificate, retired law enforcement credentials, Global Entry card, and state bar card everywhere.

ICE officers shouldn't be allowed to stick a phone in anyone's face to run face recognition without their consent. A coalition of privacy and civil rights advocates are telling DHS to end the program immediately.

It’s not a great deal if you don’t need it. And especially this year, others really need support. So for all of us who have enough, let’s refuse to get sucked into the holiday shopping frenzy and share instead of shop. We don’t need more stuff, we need communities where all our neighbors are safe.

Apparently it’s a crime to remind military members to follow the law and refuse illegal orders (something that it is ingrained in basic) and the pentagon can recall you into the service to discipline you. However, the pentagon will not prosecute you for dodging the draft five times.

In Monrovia, California, protesters are purchasing 17¢ ICE scrapers from Home Depot and immediately returning them to create long lines and slow down the entire store. Their aim is to disrupt sales and convey a message opposing ICE raids occurring in their neighborhood.
