At 10:53 am, it feels like 104 degrees with the heat index. This is why we homeschool during the summer and take a fall/winter break. I'll never understand why public schools in Florida give kids their longest break during the hottest part of the year. 🥵

Florida's minimum wage is $13/hr right now. It won't reach $15 until September 2026. Still not a living wage, but it's a start.

Our local public schools in FL were already underfunded and offered no support for my Dyslexic child. Private Dyslexia schools in our area cost $20,000+++ per year. The $8,000 voucher may help wealthy families save money, but in our case, it's still too expensive and I've been forced to homeschool.

And let us emphasize the word SHELTER. In my area, there are many "rescue" organizations that snatch up the most adoptable dog breeds from local shelters for their own profit. Visit your local shelter first, and research any "rescue" you might consider. Our shelters are full of left-behind pitbulls.
