Even among those who do not consider themselves allies, many want to learn - evidence that there is a real appetite for improvement. On the other hand, 22% of respondents do not know their institution’s anti-harassment procedures… which is concerning.

Postdocs are the champions of allyship, permanent staff slightly less so, but still motivated to improve. Women, non-binary individuals, expatriates, and members of underrepresented groups are particularly eager for information.

Here, we show that the vast majority of the community (83%) consider themselves allies, and almost everyone wants to learn how to be a better one.

Finally, the analysis confirms that individuals with multiple vulnerability factors - for example, female or non-binary PhD students - are significantly more affected.
