I was 16 years old at the time, and was attending a workshop held at the college I later attended. I remember sitting there at my drawing bench with my board & clips, sharpening my pencils and preparing to draw, when a young female walked by me in a bath robe, and proceeded to walk to the front of the room, take off the robe, and sit in a chair on a pedestal. "Okay, here we go..." I thought, and drew this. Definitely NOT my best, but my first, and I'm showing it to you with all of it's false proportions and omitted faces intact. Thank you for looking!

I just found out that someone added me to a list of people to block. The list of reasons is long, but the one that applies to me is "posts AI art".

I only ever post work that's generated from a dataset of MY OWN WORK, but they don't care about that. They don't care about exceptions, only rules.

I'm a longtime lover of Jazz, although the saxophone is not one of my personal favorites - likely a side-effect of being a teenager in the 80's, but to me this exudes Jazzlike energy, and dynamic motion in orange, coral, and magenta tones, with the usual fractal field patterns. This is a self portrait in pencil, charcoal, ink wash, marker, and pastel. It shows a figure in 3/4 view, facing away, yet turned to look at the viewer. Not sure why I titled this one this way, it's just an overall feeling I get from it, of divine resignation, and completion. It also seems as though the struggle has been long, hard, and well-earned. That's just the feeling, but the hard evidence is strong... There are firm, dynamic lines curling inward, while a background of midnight blue and coppery feather clouds line the "horizon". It's all abstract, only suggested, but that's what it produces in my imagination. What does it produce in yours, I always love to know! Judging by the appearance of this, "Moss Rocket" was the most suitable name I could think of for it. It looks to be a log or other organic structure surrounded by swamp fog, with bristly growths carpeting the outer surface, while a combustion engine seems to reside within. One can imagine it slowly gliding in the air, moving silently and monumentally through the fog. Thank you for being here to witness this weirdness with me!

Here's another "satellite image" seen from space, showing a large-scale operation that I utilize on a small scale in my paintings - sediment deposition. This is one of my first actual paintings that closely resembled a satellite image, and to me it looks like an oasis in the desert, or perhaps a hot spring? Aqua blue is fairly consistently used, along with metallic red, gold, turquoise, and earth-tones, in a swirling mass that looks to be affected by a combination of continental drift, geological forces, and erosion! Thank you for considering these ideas with me, over a painting!

There's a definite dividing line at the top of this, a curving, aquatic line that evokes waves on water, which separates the plainer gradient at the top, with its subtle, bronzey rainbow hues from the complex, colorful structures to be found beneath, in pink, gold, aqua, orange, and earth tones. This to me looks like a study of an object's aerodynamic properties, but in water, resulting in hydrodynamic action, and arcs of smoke designed to show the curved paths of air are replaced by waves, and ripped water. This is a relatively simple composition, in comparison to some I've posted, but possibly gains some effectiveness, in that simplicity - it tends to highlight to fact that this resembles a person's eye, sans the pupil and iris. Occasionally an artwork will be associated with a sound for me, and such is the case with this one - and the sound is one of a gong being struck. Maybe it's the metallic gold coloration, maybe it's the echoing, repeating "wave" patterns resembling bursts of sound, or the mildly centralized composition, but I suspect it's ALL of those things coming together to lend themselves to one single effect - one single sound. I don't know about you, but I could use a drink. :( I really should have a juice, instead! This is a very delicate piece, "gentle" is a word that comes to mind, and "subtle", but not bland or lifeless - just subdued, with much hiding in shadows, or gentle color gradients in blue, green, and gold with Earth tones, in colorful patterns that remind me of soap bubbles, in rainbow swirls. What do you see? Your input only adds to the work!

Sometimes my artwork resembles a scientific illustration of some type of organism or organ system presented in great anatomical detail, and this one is a good example of that, with its delicate, sinewy strands that seem to be arranged like nerves or veins - all produced by fractal field patterning in gesso, and then painted. This time the color scheme is green, aqua, red, and gold with a strong earth-tone base. What is it? It looks like a human shoulder joint, or perhaps nerve tissue! I've been dealing with gesso issues for literally years now, while the top-of-the-line brands became too expensive to experiment with, at $125-$150 per gallon. Well now, in 2025, apparently they've come to their senses, and you can now get professional quality gesso - that doesn't seem to have changed in consistency or quality since the 90's - for about half of that. It's only slightly more expensive than it was, at about $60 per gallon, which is about $10 more than it was in the mid-to-late 90's. THIS IS ONLY DAY 2 OF DRYING, and a disaster can still happen, but so far there is ZERO evidence of cracking, and only one spot where the gesso is splitting. This splitting is normal, in that it's been happening for as long as I've been painting this way, and caused when a skin of dried gesso forms over a large mound of wet gesso, and then shrinks, causing it to split, and expose the wet gesso underneath. Sometimes this layer dries and also splits, resulting in tiered or "terraced" canyons which resemble fractal forms of yet another sort, in addition to the fractal field patterns already formed in the wet gesso. So this is an entirely new painting for 2025, started on my 22nd wedding anniversary, and hopefully bringing about a new era of creative productivity for me!
