I had that (good) heartache for years with my bff @mseldritch.bsky.social before I moved to her city. And it reaffirmed for me just how real those relationships are, even if they can feel distant sometimes

Oh, I feel this so hard. I feel really lucky I have so many people close to me, but I've made so, so many more friends that I'll never meet or have met once or twice in my life. It's a unique kind of heartache to have love like that from afar.

...rather than walls. One of the most difficult things when I lived monogamously was how often I was saying no to beneficial (even non-romantic!) relationships to protect someone from feeling jealousy or confronting difficult feelings

But there's love and community on the other side of that work 💙

We've been making jokes all week "monogamy? In this economy??" but in all seriousness, I think building support networks in whatever way works best for you is a thoroughly good idea

It doesn't even have to take the form of polyamory, per se, but there are huge benefits to building relationships...

My partner got me checked in and took care of all the things I need. THEIR bf (and his wife and gf) brought me food. My gf came by to visit. My best friend has been blowing up my phone all week.

Even my work colleagues are offering kindness and support out the wazoo.

and btw "search engines" means more than just Google. chances are there are specific sites for just about anything you need art resources for, with better filters than a generic engine like Google. OP's list has great examples, but no matter what you're looking for, there's probably an equivalent!!

(I fully take your point that "consent to war" and "volunteering to be a soldier" are very different concepts, and even people signing up to be soldiers aren't exactly consenting to the war itself. But the context just makes this person's opinion worse!!)

So, spiritually, I would probably agree. But in the video, the specific context is children recruiting other children to be soldiers, and that one we have pretty clear reference points for in international law! And basically everyone agrees you're not allowed to sign up to be a soldier under 18(ish)

Right?? Like truly I can never feel like I'm respecting my audience if I'm not doing anything a wikipedia plot summary could do.

I can't imagine actually being irritated that someone is putting actual effort in.
