It’s been suggested by one our members that it would be good if we could get some more trees planted along the northern edge of the Murray Burn behind where Short & Curlys and the Jaflong used to be. We’d need to liaise with ‘Places for People’ to see what’s possible.

Works on stabilising the river wall alongside the Burnside path progressing well. Hopefully not too long before they are finished, and the Longstone Sinkhole is no more.

Trees bring so many benefits directly into our communities. Perfect time of the year to admire their structure and form. ❤️

Written to Scottish Canals, again asking the contractors return and remove all the pedestrian diversion signs they left behind at the start of Oct after they finished tree works along the canal. Diversion route includes primary school streets, which are narrow enough already. Not good enough.👎👎
November 26, 2025 at 9:03 AM
We’ve raised the very muddy condition of the diversion path after it was highlighted by local users of it.

We raised an incident with SEPA to try and get some answers to questions we have surrounding this CSO.
November 23, 2025 at 3:12 PM
This CSO has a powered screen so we should not be seeing materials (that people also should not have flushed down the toilet) enter the river here. Why is sewer debris entering our river? This is what was left after a previous event. Grim.
November 23, 2025 at 2:49 PM
The Dovecot CSO isn’t on the Scottish Water overflow map for monitoring (yet) but it regularly overflows and when the river level drops you can see sewer detritus stuck to the grill. Likely much more going into the river. @drscottarthurmp.bsky.social

“💥Wow wow wow! A new record attendance with 119 young runners, joggers, & walkers 🏃 completing the 11th Hailes Quarry Junior Parkrun💥

Solidarity. Always hear plenty about anti-social behaviour from young folk & forget adults are guilty of anti-social behaviour on a daily basis. Speeding, engine idling, fireworks, pavement parking, smoking at the school gates, not being able to put rubbish in bins properly, fly tipping etc…

Good to see an amendment to this item at TEC tomorrow seeking clarity and further engagement with our ward cllrs and community on the Burnside path. Hopefully it passes.

A thank you to Rev Bob Henderson, Chaplain to the Forces, for a moving and thoughtful memorial service this morning. It was lovely to see such good attendance with everyone paying their respects. Ray Donnelly laid a wreath on behalf of LCC and looked impeccable doing so.
